The birth of a foal is a highly anticipated event for many horse owners. Good management practices are essential to a successful breeding program. A live, healthy foal represents the investment of considerable time, money and effort.
At DeepMeadows Farm, we request that the mare arrive at least 30 days prior to foaling for observation and preparation. Owners wishing to participate in the Pennsylvania Breeding Fund Program must arrive by October 1st. Mares are stalled nightly and turned out daily in our large fields for at least 6 hours.
As a full time operation, we are always on hand to take care of feeding, grooming, foaling, minor medical care and good record keeping.
DeepMeadows Farm features large foaling stalls equipped with monitoring cameras. We follow a strict foaling protocol and monitor dates of last vaccinations, colostral loss, time of foaling, placental expulsion and details of the foal.
The increased demand for Pennsylvania thoroughbred horses makes DeepMeadows farm the perfect setting to foal your mare, provide weanlings and yearlings the care they need and take full advantage of the PA Certification Program.
